We offer New Mexico Youth Muzzleloader Elk Hunting in Units 13, 15, and 17. This hunt begins in early October, prior to any other gun hunts in these units, and is an excellent opportunity for any youngster to shoot a great bull.  In order to qualify for a youth hunt in New Mexico, the hunter must not turn 18 years old prior to the start date of the hunt.  In-lines, scopes, and saboted bullets are all allowed in New Mexico.

Youth hunters may draw this permit through the public draw or they have the option to purchase a unit-wide landowner permit.  Any youth applying for the draw must successfully complete a valid hunter education program prior to submitting an application.
