General Info

We hunt elk in units 12 and 13 in western New Mexico. These two units are not necessarily known for high numbers of elk but more for the size of the bulls. A good herd bull in our areas will usually be 370-400+ inches. We typically only try to kill bulls that score 330 or better. We hunt high desert terrain with thick Pinyon and Juniper thickets at about 6000-7500 feet in elevation. Our elk hunts are not too physically demanding primarily because the elk are in flat and easily accessible areas during the rut.

We typically drive into the general locations we are going to hunt and then travel on foot from that point. Hunters can expect to walk 1-5 miles per day across fairly flat terrain. The only difficult hiking we sometimes encounter is getting in position atop high points to glass. In unit 13 we hunt mainly public land and in unit 12 we hunt both private and public lands. Our three main methods of hunting are spot and stalk, sitting blinds, and calling.

Travel Info

Hunters who are flying need to arrive in Albuquerque the day prior to their scheduled hunt. Airport pickup is an additional $150.00 per hunter. Hunters who provide their own transportation to camp are asked to arrive no earlier than noon on the day prior to the start of their hunt. Directions to our camp will be provided to any hunters who are driving. Hunters need to bring all hunting equipment that they will need for the duration of a hunt. We do not provide weapons, optics, clothing, packs, or hunting gear for hunters. We do provide, qualified guides, transportation during the hunt, food, lodging, and basic necessities.

Accomodations and Trophy Care

We run our elk hunts with two different types of lodging. On some hunts we may be staying in a modern house or in some cases a hotel. On the majority of the hunts our camp is made up of travel trailers and wall tents with most modern conveniences. We provide all of the food, water, and snacks that you will need for your entire hunt. We do not provide liquor or beer, however we do allow hunters to bring whatever they would like into camp.We will cape your trophy and prepare it for your travel home. We provide transportation from the field to the meat processor. We have recommended meat processors and will make sure that your animal gets into the facility as soon as possible. Hunters are responsible for all shipping and meat processing costs.
