Arizona Archery Mule Deer Hunting – Early Season

View all Arizona photos

Our early season Arizona Archery Mule Deer hunting is very challenging psychologically as most hunters will not see many deer, however the success rate is high for those who have the patience and desire to tough out the heat.  We spend all summer operating trail cameras to pattern these big bruisers and generally locate and pattern multiple deer that score 190-200″+ prior to the hunt.  We hunt these big muley bucks in ground blinds over water.

This hunt takes place in late August when the deer are in full velvet, and archery permits are only available to hunters over-the-counter.   During this time of the year the weather is extremely hot so we typically only hunt early mornings and late evenings when the bigger bucks hit water.   Hunters must arrive in Phoenix, Arizona the day prior to the start of the hunt.
